In the run up to the second of Ann Holman's 'Random' events here in Exeter, thought I'd post the video Ann and I created for the inaugural event. The subject matter is about the concept of being random, and the effect positive randomness can play in business and the customer experience.
In the middle of processing a stash of photography I took for a project with the Bristol Music Foundation. Images of the 'Patrick James Pearson' band rocking at Start the Bus and 'The Naturals' lead guitarist killing it at the Cooler.
Commissioned by Front Magazine, here's a set of 20 images taken from my night at Motion skate park capturing a slice from Bristol's most hedonistic club night "Shit The Bed".
After yet another crazy weekend in Bristol. The following is a small slice of some of the photographs I ended up taking at the latest monster drum & bass and dubstep mashup!
Given only one week to do it, I was asked to design a special limited edition hardback gatefold album to mark the South West (Bristol Music Foundation) and North East (Generator, Newcastle) of England at the Great Escape 2010. Working together with one of my favourite artists 'Hero73' aka Danny Capozzi this is what we came up with. The 12 track vinyl compilation features tracks from: Kill It Kid, White Belt Yellow Tag, Jackie Oates, Let’s Buy Happiness, Ruarri Joseph, Viva City, Rebecca Mayes, Nadine Shah, Rachelle van Zanten, Mammal Club, Fitness Club Fiasco and Frankie & the Heartstrings.
Last night I attended Ann Holman's fantastic lecture on the subject of marketing. Part of the summery for the lecture states "how traditional differentiators that businesses had five years ago are being lost everyday. Price, quality and delivery are the same. Product offerings are bland and delivering great customer experience is the only competitive advantage left. Everyone just looks the same."
One of the key messages taken from the seminar was how almost everything known about marketing from the past 30 years is now irrelevant today. During the lecture I couldn't help but draw a comparison between this classic scene taken from the film 'Dead Poets Society' and Ann as she stating what was the "blinding flash of the obvious".
